Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding leaders who have supported, challenged, and championed me. These extraordinary individuals inspired me to learn more, do better, and to recognize when to rest and when to persevere. Over time, they became more than leaders to me - they became friends, mentoring me with wisdom, compassion, kindness, and a playful sense of humour.

They saw potential in me, even when I couldn’t see it myself, guiding me toward self-discovery and helping me to build confidence. Their belief in me made me proud of the work I do and excited about what lies ahead.

When I reflect on the leaders who have shaped my career, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. They’ve given me opportunities, shared their time and expertise, and offered honesty and encouragement. Their example has deeply influenced the values that shape Can Do Partnerships: integrity, kindness, compassion, imagination, and tenacity.

After three rewarding years of working as a sole trader alongside my NHS role, now feels like the right time to take the next step and transition into a limited company. Naming the company was a deeply personal process. I wanted a name that was not only meaningful to me but also hopeful and inspiring to others. For weeks, I deliberated, consulted with colleagues, and even considered giving up. Then, one day, whilst walking my dog, Norm, through the woods, (I do some of my best thinking whilst walking Norm) the name came to me—completely out of the blue.

I remembered something Jonathan - my former boss, mentor, and friend - had said to me over a decade ago. He told me I had the “ultimate Can Do attitude,” always approaching even the most challenging situations with a smile. His words resonated deeply, as they often do when I need them most.

Jonathan tragically passed away in March 2023, and his legacy continues to inspire me. I miss him deeply and send love to his family and friends.

Jonathan, you embodied the “ultimate Can Do attitude,” and I hope to honour your legacy by doing for others what you did for me. Thank you for the lessons, the encouragement, the inspiration and the laughs along the way.
